Personality disorder tests

Ever wondered if you have a personality disorder?
Here are some online tests:

Of course, tests like this will always pick up something.

“I think I am a good role model.” If you agree with that, there’s an extra point on the narcissism scale.
“Do you often feel uncomfortable in social situations?” If so, you’re ‘avoidant.’
“Do you have difficulty trusting people?” let’s hope not, because apparently that’s a sign of disorder as well.

Any health care professional will tell you that online tests are not a genuine diagnostic tool, and you should ignore the results and seek a professional’s opinion. But the secret, official tests that health workers use have exactly the same types of questions, the only difference being that they have a better idea about how “normal” people are supposed to respond. The health care worker is doing the same thing – looking for signs of mental illness. If you look hard enough, you’ll find symptoms in anyone. That doesn’t mean that everyone is crazy. It means that our definition of ‘crazy’ is too broad.
